Schedule of Events
The core training for participants in BEST, is based on a 6-month period. During this time, students will learn basic drafting techniques based on college-level drafting exercises, while simultaneously completing on-line courses offered through the Bentley LEARN Server. The plan follows a path for each student to achieve the goal of earning Bentley 5-Star accreditation (80 hours). Realizing that every student will progress at a different rate, the following is a general summary of the overall goals and milestones:
Month 1 – Drafting: Completion of CAD 101 drawings 1-8 Bentley Learn Server: Completion of 16 hours of MicroStation Essentials
Month 2 - Drafting: Completion of Cad 101 drawings 9-12 and CAD 102 drawings 1-6 Bentley Learn Server: Completion of MicroStation Essentials (16 hours)
Month 3 - Drafting: Completion of CAD 102 drawings 7-12 Bentley Learn Server: Completion of MicroStation AccuDraw Basics (8 hours) Completion of 8 hours – MicroStation Advanced Users
Month 4 - Drafting: Completion of CAD 103 drawings 1-6 Bentley Learn Server: Completion of MicroStation Advanced Users (8 hours) Completion of 8 hours – MicroStation Everything 3D
Month 5 - Drafting: Completion of CAD 103 drawings 7-12 Bentley Learn Server: Completion of 16 hours – MicroStation Everything 3D
Month 6 - Drafting: Completion of CAD 104 (4 drawings) Bentley Learn Server: Completion of MicroStation Everything 3D (8 hours) Completion of MicroStation Rendering (16 hours)
After completion of this first “semester,” students will have skills necessary to an entry-level drafting position. The second “semester” will involve three months of mechanical drafting classes and overall mechanical training, and another three months focusing on electrical drafting. Both of these will include an emphasis on solar and other renewable-energy modeling and codes. |
